Scope Ring Manufacturing Check Block

This is a solid block of steel, 200mm long with the mounting rail type machined into one side of the block. They are a precision machined block and held to tight tolerances. The mounting styles provided are 11mm dovetail, (Anschutz style), 3/8″ 45 degree American dovetail (12.7mm) and Stanag NATO rail. (basically, the same as the MIL spec 1913 PIC rail but with tighter tolerances. PIC rail attachments should fit onto the NATO rail.)

The Check Blocks are used to mount the scope rings on before you fit them to your rifle and verify that they are correctly manufactured by using the Scope Ring Test Bar of the correct size in conjunction with this Check Block.

If you mount your scope rings on this block and then cannot pass the sliding sleeve of the test bar from side to side, then your scope rings have not been machined true and are not really suitable for use without further work such as lapping.

It is our position that lapping is not really successful as you will end up with scope rings that have centre holes that are not round, not aligned perfectly, probably oversize and not have good contact with the scope tube.
